How Moss transformed finance workflows in 2024

As 2024 wraps up, I’ve been reflecting on how far Moss has come this year. We are privileged to support thousands of finance teams every day—from fast-scaling startups to long-established businesses. Our mission has always been to empower you with the control, efficiency, and reliability you need to stay ahead. And it is your feedback that continues to inspire us to improve our product and service every step of the way.

This year, our theme was completeness and excellence: Bringing you greater depth, customisation, and automation to core accounting and controlling features - enabling you to manage any business spend equally efficiently on Moss, from invoices to cards to reimbursements. We’re especially proud of our advancements in AI-powered automation. Nearly 1,000 businesses now rely on our proprietary AI as an integral part of their accounting workflows, achieving up to 4x greater time savings compared to legacy rule-based or manual solutions. With a retention rate exceeding 99%, these AI-powered features have become one of our most widely embraced innovations—clearly demonstrating the quality, trust, and value our investments in AI deliver.

I’m proud of the remarkable pace at which our team delivered new functionalities this year. Here are some of the standout improvements that we introduced in 2024.

Q1 2024

• Purchase Requests: Create, submit, and manage purchase requests for pre-approval, budget alignment, and policy compliance. 
• *Now supporting PO numbers as part of our December releases
• Fully customisable workflows: Customise workflows for cards, invoices, or reimbursements to align with your organisation’s unique needs.

Q2 2024

• Mandatory fields: Automatically ensure your team provide essential details such as project or supplier info up front, saving time chasing missing info.
• Custom dimensions: Configure additional custom fields, — e.g. projects or product lines—with your accounting systems, for complete transaction records.

Q3 2024

• Invoice verification: Automatically assign verifiers to confirm supplier invoices match what was received as part of your accounts payable process.
• Biometrics & Mobile approvals: Log in securely and approve transactions on mobile using fingerprint or face ID.
• Approvals updates: Build custom approval rules for expenses, accounts, teams, and suppliers to create policies tailored to your business needs.
• Payment Terms and Skonto: Automate, manage, and export invoice due dates and early payment discounts to maintain complete and up-to-date accounts payable records.

Q4 2024

• Bank Transfers: Pay supplier invoices and reimbursements directly from Moss in over 70 currencies.
• Keyboard shortcuts: Navigate Moss faster with new keyboard shortcuts and enhanced usability.
• Mileage claim updates: Custom rates, commute distinctions, and repeat journey tracking.

Looking ahead: Bigger plans, smarter tools, same commitment

We have big plans for 2025, including further advancements in AI-driven automation and continuous accounting to save you even more time. We will continue investing to complete our procure-to-pay offering, enhance customizability for Reimbursement workflows, and add greater capabilities for managing multiple entities and associated financial services—alongside many other exciting updates.
