Empowering smarter finance at INSRD

As a fast-growing, small-headcount startup, INSRD needed a reliable, multi-functional finance platform to support its day-to-day operations and long-term scalability.

Initially, INSRD turned to another provider for spend management. But frequent bugs, unreliable payment flows, and poor customer support quickly turned it into more of a burden than a benefit. Without a scalable, efficient solution, everyday finance tasks became a constant source of frustration for the one-person finance team.

The challenge

As one of Sifted’s Early Stage Startups to Watch in 2024, INSRD has big ambitions—but with a lean team of just six, everyone wears multiple hats.

When Yannik Möller stepped into his role as Founder’s Associate, finance became one of his key focus areas early on. He quickly found that staying on top of spend and maintaining visibility was much more difficult than expected.

To bring more order, INSRD initially tried a different spend management provider. But the tool’s limitations became apparent with daily use.

Solution

After a frustrating experience with their previous provider, INSRD began the search for a more reliable, future-ready alternative.

With real-time spend visibility, an intuitive, user-friendly platform, and outstanding support, Moss gave INSRD the structure and control it was missing.

INSRD has also integrated Moss with DATEV to streamline reconciliations and collaboration with tax advisors.

Results

Since switching to Moss, INSRD has seen a dramatic improvement in its finance operations. One of the most significant changes has been speed and efficiency in monthly reporting. 

Previously, financial reports were delayed until the end of the following month—now, they’re completed just six days after month-end. This has given the team more timely insights and reduced pressure on reporting deadlines.

Invoice tracking has dramatically improved at INSRD thanks to automatic processing and smart routing to the right approver — a huge leap from the previously disorganised workflow.

Today, the finance team enjoys full visibility and control over the entire invoice lifecycle, from submission to export.

Day-to-day workload has also become much more manageable. With clearly defined workflows and real-time oversight, finance admin tasks now take just 10 to 15 minutes every other day. What used to be a time-consuming and error-prone process has become fast, reliable, and low-effort.

Beyond finance, Moss has also improved transparency within the company. Founders now have better visibility over spending, ensuring smooth operations without unnecessary wasted time.
